MICAH House Supporters,
As I type these words my heart is both heavy and full of gratitude. I’m grateful because I’ve had the great pleasure of serving as the Executive Director of MICAH House for the last six years. We’ve had some great success as a team and as an organization. We’ve put out requests for food, masks, sponsors, volunteers, and donations…and you ALWAYS answered the call. We’ve expanded our impact, increased partnerships, and created innovative programs and services to address trauma. I’m sure by now, you know my passion for the work.
My heart is heavy because my time as Executive Director at MICAH House is winding down. The opportunity to do more great work with children and families presented itself, and I’m going to take on a new challenge as President and CEO at Child Saving Institute.
My final day at MICAH House will be October 1. I’m confident that we have built the necessary capacity and leadership within our Board of Directors and internal team to handle this transition. I believe when the process is complete MICAH House will be stronger. Over the last six years, I’ve had the great privilege to be the face and voice of MICAH House. One person does not make an organization or mission. The effectiveness and outcomes are in the collective team. The team is the heart that makes this thing work. Our community and our partners provide the lifeblood that makes that heartbeat.
With the support of MICAH House’s Board of Directors, we have established a solid transition plan, and we are executing that plan. Effective October 4, Ashley Flater, Director of Donor Relations will be promoted to the role of Associate Director. Ashley was on a professional development plan to assume a larger role as part of MICAH House’s strategic growth, but my transition has simply accelerated that plan. As a part of the Associate Director role, Ashley will serve as Acting Executive Director while the Board of Directors develops a deliberate search process. This process will be formally launched in 2022. Ashley has been a part of the MICAH House leadership team for the last 3.5 years. Ashley is passionate about our mission and is a thoughtful and strategic leader. I believe we are collectively building a support structure that ensures she will thrive during the transition. We will backfill for Ashley’s role immediately, as to not lose momentum on our key strategies. Overall, we believe this transition is realistic, strategic, and ultimately will allow for continuity with our programs, services, and key growth strategies.
Although my days as an employee are coming to a close. My commitment to the mission will continue, as an advocate and champion for those served through the mission.
With gratitude,
Jaymes Sime
Executive Director
