Champagne and Diamonds 2009
| The annual MICAH House Champagne and Diamonds event was a great success! Congratulations again to the winners of the diamond! Thank you to everyone for attending and supporting our cause of providing a safe, secure environment for families and single women experiencing homelessness. We raised more than $34,000! These funds will go directly to the the professional services to support our guests. | |

The Charles E. Lakin Human Services Campus in Council Bluffs, Iowa has been completed!! The Lakin Campus is a new concept in social services - the location of multiple agencies at a central location, allowing for more effective and efficient use of resources. This proximity will allow for better utilization of the five participating agencies by those in need of assistance.
The new campus will be the new home to five social service agencies: MICAH House, American Red Cross Loess Hills Chapter, Boys and Girls Club, Salvation Army and Heartland Family Service. "While each organization will retain its individual mission and focus, the campus concept will create a strong and common bond between the agencies raising the standards of social services in Southwest Iowa to unparalleled heights." (Press Release, 2006)
The Charles E. Lakin Campus is named for Charles Lakin, an altruistic individual who galvanized the campus development with his generous donation of $12 million. To name the campus after such a benevolent philanthropist seems exceptionally germane and appropriate. Since this significant injection of funds, the campus has gone on to raise over $30 million.
The MICAH House is euphoric over the progress of the new campus. Once it is constructed, MICAH House will double its capacity - having the ability to serve 90 individuals at any one time. The creation of our new facility will allow MICAH House to continue serving the homeless in greater magnitude.
